An Evening At Berry Creek Country Club

It was a fun night photographing at the beautiful Berry Creek Country Club in Georgetown Texas.  The people who attended this event are very successful, articulate and always interesting to photograph.

I had the pleasure of meeting the Texas State Comptroller Susan Combs who was very kind and has a great sense of humor. She told some interesting stories about her life and the values she learned from her father. She talked of the financial situation in Texas and how Texas had learned some hard lessons in the 80′s which help us in the current economic climate.

Congressman Carter talked of the current situation in Washington and about some of the changes we need to make to get this country back on track.

I get to hear some great speeches while photographing these types of events and I always learn a lot about the state of our great country – even though they do tend to scare me about the future.

Congressman Carter, his beautiful wife Erika and his staff are always a pleasure to work with.  I look forward photographing them again at their next big event.

I am so blessed to be in the business I am in. I am able to attend functions such as these, hear interesting stories, meet some great people, eat great food and get some awesome photographs.

A big thank you to Judy McLeod for your help in keeping the names straight for everyone in the photographs.

Let it rain

We had perfect weather for this Trash the Dress session at McMurtrie’s Farm. That being said we weren’t sure if that was going to be the scenario.  You could hear the thunder as we were headed out for the session.  It’s a Trash the Dress session.  A little rain won’t hurt, but lightening is another story. Lucky for us by the time we set up for the session, we only had grey skies- Perfect for outdoor sessions.

Crystal had made arrangements for our bride Tabitha to do this special session. Tabitha was a delight.   She was ready to trash the dress.

Ed had already toured the area, stomped his feet to get any critters out of the way. And now Tabitha was ready to get in the stream and get dirty.

We started with just sitting in the dirt.  Just a little dirt and getting our feet wet.  Yes our feet.  I found it fun to join in and get my feet wet too. Then we moved to where the stream was a little deeper.   And as Ed was doing this awesome shoot, and Tabitha was loving it, I noticed a little visitor in the stream below the waterfall where we were shooting.   I turned to Crystal and whispered to her that there was a snake and I didn’t want to alarm anyone. No worries, it was below and not coming up.  Whew. When Tabitha went to peak at the snake, it slithered away.

Then our brave bride said okay to really getting into the stream. It must have been like swimming in her wedding dress.  The pictures are stunning. Tabitha was having fun.  I just felt bad that we didn’t have any dirt for her dress to get dirty.

Now I must say that I am not a fan of Trash the Dress. I know you paid a lot of money for your dress. I also get that you’re not going to wear it again.  That being said- I had just as much fun as Tabitha doing this session.  So…. Bring it on.

Medley of Bridal images

Elyse

Isn't she beautiful?

Traditionally the bride has one image displayed at her reception of her in her Bridal outfit.  The Bridal session is a good trial run for the bride to see herself before the big day.  We have seen brides change their hairstyle, makeup, bouquet and sometimes even their dress.  And then some that keep everything exactly the same.

One of the toughest things is to pick just one image from their Bridal Session.  After all there are most likely 20 to 30 images for her to select from. Narrowing it down to just one can be grueling.  So Ed has created the Medley.   The Medley is a composition of at least 3 images that tell a story of the session.

The Medley above was done from a Bridal Session at Villa Antonia  in Austin, TX. This wonderful venue has several areas for spectacular images.  We have had this Medley on display at several bridal shows and everyone knows that it was taken at Villa Antonia.  Elyse is stunning in her Bridal images and add the venue and you have a breathtaking Medley.

Check out Erica’s Medley from her Bridal Session. This Medley showcases just the bride. Erica knew immediately that she wanted a Medley from her Bridal Session. She chose 3 amazing images to have in her Medley. Choosing just one would have been so challenging.

Medleys aren’t just for Bridal Sessions- they can be done for just about any session. So very cool, so very original, and so unique.  No one else will have a Medley Portrait.  Sweet.
